A Week of Birthday!

Birthdays are especially special when they are spent with people who matters in your life, and when you have people who goes the extra mile to make it special for you. :)



A quick and simple surprise our colleagues pulled for Gowry and I.
What are the odds, one of my favourite colleague's birthday is just a day after mine! :)

Later that same day, I met up with Zylia for my birthday treat!!


Queue-d quite a bit for this.. It was nice, but not very worth any queue. =p


&On Friday, my other project team surprised me too!

Also met up with some friends from Maybank over a good evening of food and catchup!

Atas Birthday Dinner

Someone has joined the quarter-life group today; My childhood friend, Zylia!
Cannot believe we have known each other for so long already. Lucky her. LOL!

We hardly meet these days due to work and other life commitments, but I am glad we still continue to be there for each other's birthday. Even if it is just having a simple dinner.

Tonight's dinner was also simple, but really pricey!!! :O

So hooked onto Snapchat these days. Makes recording moments so easy!!
Have also been a little overboard with all the filters. :X

As with our usual; the birthday girl picks the dinner place.

After going through burpple, we settled with Burnt Ends (X) near Outram and boy were we not aware of what we got ourselves into!!!

The place was definitely not a setting we are familiar with. At some point, I actually felt a little..... uncomfortable? It felt more like a place for real adults to dine in, much less for us mere budding adults. Lol. I would definitely call us noobs because we were so clueless!

Didn't know what to order. Didn't know if we should order wine. Didn't know what wine to order. Didn't know what was presented to us. So much didn't knows!

The prices were also........ more appropriate for real adults. LOL!!!

It was still an enjoyable night though; facing the wall, having dinner and catching up with each other over foreign tasting dinner and wine. Something different to remember. :)


Our first course: Duck's heart ($10)
HAHAHAHA.

Wasn't kidding when I said we were totally not aware what we got ourselves into.

But surprisingly, the duck heart tasted good!! Just like any other intestines? Similar to Foie Gras, I would say.


Marmalade Beef and Pickles, ($14).
Zylia actually don't eat beef, so I don't know why we ordered this.................

But it was good. I love pickles! And it worked really well with the marmalade beef; kindda made the overall dish less sweet.

Ah right. We ordered this because there was nothing else Zylia want from the menu, and she thought it would not be filling enough for me? Lol.


Burnt Ends Sanger ($20).
Their pulled pork burger.

I am not a fan of pulled pork, I prefer thick slices of pork belly any day~ But this was good. Not dry like the ones I have tried thus far. Very nicely seasoned albeit too salty for us both. Very generous portion too!

&That was all.
Not exactly full, but good enough. Anything more and we'll be too full and it'll also be too much for the wallet. LOL. Then again, I had more since Zylia doesn't take beef........ So meh.

Just to be clear ah, I gave her the green light to order whatever she want!!! There was just nothing much appealing to her. The names were a bit too foreign to make a decision too. Lol.

Celebrating Zylia's Birthday

Feeling bored at work right now.............. :X Can't wait for lunch because I'm getting all restless. meh

So...... Quick random update about yesterday! :D

Met up with Zylia after work to celebrate her birthday, a day late. I started early to find somewhere nice, new for us both, within my budget and of a cuisine she wants..... Had a mini headache trying to research on a place for her birthday.. We do this for each other, no gifts; Buy dinner and plan the night for the birthday person. And by 'plan the night' I mean deciding on the dinner place. haha.

Thanks to Chiulee, I managed to get a good Italian Restaurant deal from Groupon! And so, we had a satisfying dinner at ION's Alfresco Gusto X. Unfortunately, we didn't take any pictures last night! Didn't look nice enough in our selfies and I didn't bother to take pictures of our food because we were famished. :(

The Groupon was such a great deal ($40 for $80 value) that we ordered quite a bit... Shared a pizza, a pasta and two starters. Obviously too much for us, but they were worth the calories! Lol. Go on and imagine our food~ Too lazy to go into details now. :X

Also spoke about her birthdays during dinner.. Many things in life are more than meets the eye. Of course, I'm only listening to one side of the story.. BUT! When I got home last night, my mother shared somethings about the same episode. This time, I'm going to side with my friend. I got the full picture and realize how fortunate I am. It's interesting to know more things about people and how people perceive things oh-so-differently.

And with that, I'm going to end this supposedly quick update. HEH.

Excitement.

I'm bored............................ = Random update.

Met up with Zylia for dinner at Plaza Singapura yesterday, and it was an extremely last minute decision because I wanted to get something from Laneige. LOL!

I was excited to get this new product from them; The Laneige Brush Pact Pore Blur. I don't even remember how I got to know about it and why I was so bent on getting that from the store yesterday. Lol. (Oh! Because it wasn't available anywhere online.) It's actually something very similar to their compact powder that I already have... This one just comes with a brush. >< &I also got another compact powder when I'm not done with the one I have.. :X So technically, I now have 2 of the same thing, and one that works similarly. Hurhur... Sometimes, I really hate myself for the things I do when I get excited. It's like... I lose sensibility and become extremely impulse. I don't think. I just do things based on my emotions. LOL. I'm trying to figure out when this has happened before, but I think it's just that other time when I was very excited to get GF6. I remember requesting for early release from work and cabbing down to Sim Lim Square so I could get it (read here). Everything happened really fast.. Getting to know the promotion, going crazy at work and then deciding to follow my heart and buy it. hahaha. Reading that entry now still reminds me of the emotion I felt for that day.

And woahhh.. Now I know how old is my GF6. It's 1 year and 5 months old. I remember using GF2 for 2 years before upgrading to GF6.... Maybe 7 more months with my GF6 before I upgrade again? Hahahha. The next one is GF7 though.. Not that great a jump. :/

OH! I get too excited when I plan (or am involved in) a surprise too... That's why I'm terrible at surprises! I just can't stop thinking about the plan and want to make sure that everything is okay and 'surprising'... Obviously, it doesn't work very well when the person I'm surprising is quick at things and know me too well. Tsk.

Okay, goodnight. Lol.



Oh wait! More about the dinner.. Hahahahahah.

Had dinner at Nana's Green Tea X, caught up with each other for a bit, shopped around and went back home.

Yeah, that's all. LOL. I wonder why we stop taking pictures when we go out. :/ And wth.. The last time we met was in March, for my birthday! X :O

Birthday Dinner With Zylia!

So..... work didn't end on that good a note yesterday. I was fuming and replaying the recount in my head while traveling down Town to meet Zylia. But all is good when you have good food. ^^ At least I wasn't going home with a foul mood. It's always easier to put out a fire in you when you're with friends than when with family. Always easier to lose your tantrum with family, which is not something I like doing.

ANYWAY!!! I was late. I seem to always be caught up with something when I have a plan with Zylia. LOL. It's a 98% spot on kind of episode. AND I DIGRESS AGAIN~ Had dinner at a place I've been wanting to visit for a really long time! Albeit not with the initial person I wanted to go with, but still a good meal and a nice place!




Five & Dime X
It was a long long walk from where we were. Had to also pass some highly secured place where 2 armed guards(?) were standing on each side of the resident and would signal us to go to the opposite. Made us wonder a lot about the place...... Which prominent figure?

We safely arrived at the eatery hundred steps later. I like the place more during the day; Pictures make it look so nice!

First Mac & Cheese. I like it! Not too big a portion, and really tasty!


Mac and Cheese kindda took the limelight off this Mentaiko Spaghetti.
First time trying something like that too! Wasn't a disappointment.


We were too hungry to wait for proper seats and settled for bar seats. I realise for a party of 2, it's actually good to sit at the bar seats (ones that are not propped with high chairs of course lol). It's less awkward to sit side by side and it's a lot easier to camwhore! Hahaha. Not that we did.

&The night ended off with this not-too-sweet chocolate tart.
The strawberry is huge! And was carved out into a pretty rose!

Would definitely visit this place again someday. :3
