"The Pillowman"

Tonight's show at the Victoria Theater.

I never thought it was possible to be spooked out by theater plays as much as a film would, but boy was I proven wrong. I guess that's what a good script, a good stage set and good everything could do.

"The Pillowman" was simply intriguing! With all the short stories, beautiful animations and creepy background music... It was disturbing, hilarious, sometimes uncomfortable (because creepy af), but so very good!! Never thought horror stories could be so well 'Play-ed'.

The most amusing part for me was the story of "The Little Jesus Girl" where at one point, she was seen buried in a coffin. Her story was shown from the top part of the stage and her 'coffin' was located right below the lamp you see in my picture above, a little small rectangle. Seeing her shadow lay down in that small space was so... sad, but I couldn't help feel amazed at the detail of the stage to be able to portray that bit of the story!

The stage tonight; A very realistic humble home setup.
I almost never read up synopsis or reviews on the shows (&movies) I am going to watch because I enjoy being surprised...... Also because I tend to wanna read too much about the stories once I start. Needless to say, I didn't know what I was watching tonight too... I actually thought it would be some kind of typical love story with one falling for another. You know.. because 'falling'.. Har har....

But boy, have I never been so wrong!!!

"Falling" was a great great show about unconditional love in a family where one of the children is autistic. Severely autistic. I never fully understood the concept about autism and tonight was a great eye-opener.

The complex emotions each family member has to go through, while the child continues his life in his own world, in his own daily routine; Playing train and reacting the exact same way every single morning. So tiring just watching it! This character gets violent too.. Hits himself and the person nearest to him. And he's a big guy, so it becomes challenging for the family members.

The actors did a fantastic job portraying their characters!! I felt all the emotions..... Anger, confusion, uneasy and.... sadness. Especially the actor who had the autistic role - He was so good that I really felt for the role. I felt extremely uncomfortable whenever he hits himself and has an episode, I felt my heart twist each time. :(( There was also a post-dialogue where we learned more about autism. Very good to know!

Pangdemonium has never failed to impress me thus far! There is always this larger meaning behind the stories they play, and sometimes, they leave you thinking about life, about love.

So glad I'm now onboard. TO MORE AWESOME SHOWS WITH THEM!!

PS: ALSO WATCHED THIS SHOW WITH JEANETTE AW AND HOSSAN LEONG!!! Saw Jeanette once at the entrance and then again in the toilet! She has this artiste aura, but doesn't come off snobbish! #Starstruck though I'm not exactly a fan of hers. Lol.

Lance's Second Play!

It's a girls-only Friday night out and we went to support Lance in his second play!!!!
Lance's first play here, but there are no more pictures so meh.

He was a man of many roles back then in his first play (almost like a calefare), but tonight! He was just a man of one role... And in fact, one of the leads!!!

I really enjoyed the show, and thought he did a superb job. 👍👍👍

The stage this time is a lot smaller; it's performed at the theatre right infront of Timbre @ The Substation. But I guess it was a more intimate setup? I mean.. closer-to-audience setup. Lol.

Of course, after the show we HAD to get some drinks together! It's Friday and we were so near Timbre. I LOVE TIMBRE. Lol. Without Lance though. The star had his own after party~

Anyway, dinner was just a quick one (random food purchased at Raffles City Tower) before rushing over to catch the play. So food after play was very much needed.

Meh. We didn't order much though. Just sides.

A funny play about an American, with no Mandarin skills, going all the way to China in an attempt to make more business for his sign making company. Because well... Chinese makes the funniest direct translation for their signages. Lol. All the miscommunication from the language barrier between the American and the Chinese..... Makes me feel glad and a little proud to be bilingual with one of the 2 more widely used languages. Also the cultural differences that America and China have.. It was an interesting insight.

I was very impressed with Shu Ann's performance too! There were bed scenes.... wooooooo. Lol.

I am so glad Haniza asked if I was interested to watch this. &Now, I'm hooked to Pangdemonium! More on that in 2016. LOL! Cheers to more Pangdemonium!

Anyway, I had a good time last evening with Haniza, Aznita (her sister) and Yugine. A good way to unwind from work stress.... Laugh! Then again, it hasn't been that long since I came back from my vacation. HEH.


5 tickets, but I can't remember who else was with us. :X

Hello, Goodbye.

Just got back from watching 'Hello, Goodbye' and I must say, I was impressed and very pleasantly entertained! Of course, I'm no critic (and can never be one!) to be giving any valuable reviews, but I enjoyed myself..

I have more often went for Musicals X than Theater Plays because there hasn't been a play that seemed interesting enough.. Lol. In fact, I think this could be my first time watching a commercial play!! My very first play is probably the one Lance cameo-ed in (read here!), for his hall. It was good too! Proud of that crazy friend. Lol.

ANYWAY! Saw the advertisements around and thought it could be interesting to go for something different once in a while. Not really because this play looked interesting enough to be honest... I kindda expected the storyline? It's a romantic-comedy, and most of them are pretty predictable. I guess it's their advertisements that caught my attention. :/

I'm glad Haniza was keen to catch it! :3 It's so difficult to find someone who's into musicals or plays within my circle of friends! Booooo...

It was a really nice play with plenty of funny scenes and dialogues, and some tear jerking moments (just a little, for a crybaby me). It's like watching a movie up-close with the actors! More dynamic with them really moving around the set. I got a shock when the female lead actually took off her top. LOL! I thought these revealing scenes only happens on screen! Hahaha. As mentioned, the storyline was cliche, but it was still entertaining. I'll never say no to chick flicks or love stories... Probably the nearest I can get to being in love. In some twisted way. :X

I like how the male character was awkward and.... weird? The way he stuttered and behaved. But I guess the drastic difference between the characters made the female character come off a little exaggerated... Too loud and unreal.

This will definitely not be my first and last play! In fact, I'm going for another play in less than a months' time. HEHEHE. Pangdemonium's X Chinglish X. Haniza has praised his plays, and I'm sure it would be good.



On an ending note, I'm kindda sad that I can never be a critic with my easily satisfied and entertained nature. Lol.

Bingsu & Gang✮ Lance

A quick update before I crash in bed. x.x

Today's not exactly a long tiring day, I've merely spent half my Saturday out, but I'm feeling so drained right now... Experienced rain and shine when I was out and all I wanna do is stone on my chair right now. Lol.

It was a really sunny and warm day. Even after living in this kind of weather for 2 decades now, it's still something I complain about every once in a while. Y U NO 4 SEASONS HERE?! Lol.

Went out with the family in the afternoon for lunch in Toa Payoh, and I was feeling uncomfortable the whole time... Suspected it was my hair, and went for a hairwash. LOL! Turns out, it wasn't and continued to feel uncomfortable for the entire day! T^T

After washing my hair, I started my evening with an impromptu date with Jolene. Checked out Chick And Ken because Jolene was upset from a long morning. Took us a while to find the place (thank goodness for Google map!) under the scorching hot sun, but it was all worth it!! :D

It wasn't too sweet for me because we got to choose how much condense milk we wanna add.

I don't think I've tried any bingsu when I was in Korea. :/ (I miss Korea so much!) But this reminds me of snow ice that was really popular for a while in the past. Seems like bingsu is up and rising now! The portion looks really big, but Jolene and I was really satisfying with dessert! Helped fan off the crazy heat for a bit... But who knew, the sun and heat turned down a notch when we left the place. Lol.




Went for some shopping in town thereafter, before meeting Chiulee in StarVista for a play in the evening!


It was raining when we got there. T^T Heavy downpour.
End up walking a really long distance to the school and these two girls were chatting so loudly!!

The play was really enjoyable! It was especially funny when Lance appeared. Lol.
Only caught him as a gangster, a driver and a father, but he'd actually acted in a few more scenes. xD
